UT Students Preview Free!
Presenting VolCard gets students into Preview performances for no charge. Talk about your cheap dates!

This season, UT students have the opportunity to see Clarence Brown Theatre productions completely free of charge on all Preview performances. Students just need to present a valid UT ID card for each ticket wanted on that night -- tickets can be purchased in advance (and we encourage that!) or at the door.

Why are we doing this? A couple of reasons -- first of all, we'd like to increase attendance on Preview Night. Performers appreciate a larger, more responsive audience -- it prepares them for Opening Night.  As we usually have available seats on Preview performances, it is thought that the inducement of FREE tickets will bring the students in on these nights.

Second, we've found that UT students tend to delay their attendance until late in the run -- usually the last week. Unfortunately, other single ticket buyers tend to do the same thing -- with the result that sometimes our sold-out houses are largely filled with lower-margin ticket buyers and potential full-price buyers are left out in the cold. If we can shift some of the UT students to Preview, more seats might be available at higher margins later.

Oh, in case you're wondering, we will still be getting something out of the UT students attending for "free" -- by running their VolCards through the system, we'll be receiving $6 per ticket from the Student Activity fund.

Free Preview Night for UT Students -- Everyone Wins!

Free Preview Night tickets are available for all LORT and University Company productions -- Born Yesterday, All My Sons, A Year With Frog and Toad, Fences, Assassins, and A Flea in Her Ear.
